FAQ

Can rice actually save your wet device?

Even if it sounds right, it isn’t.

  • The myth of “life saving” bowl of rice nowadays has widely spread. Rice is absorbing the water so it should help to get the moisture out from the device right? The answer is: no. Even if it sounds right, it’s not. Rice will not only help get any moisture but it may even make things worse.
  • Let’s say I put my wet iPhone to the bowl of rice, what will happen next?
  • The answer is simple:
  • Most likely single grains of rice will get stuck in the charging port and every possible hole making the repair even harder because now we have to clean it of rice and marks it’s left on the device.

What should I do then?

  • If you have got some technical skills. The best and obvious thing to do first would be to clean the device of the water and unplug the battery. That will help your device to avoid getting any short-circuit.
  • If you’re not a technician, in case of wet phones, simply quickly turn them off, wipe the phone from the water and leave it in a fairly warm spot (not too warm!).
  • The best solution would be to visit your nearest repair centre as soon as possible in order to avoid any potential damage in your device.
  • As soon as you will visit one of them, a team of the repair centre should help you get it safely disconnected and cleaned from water , which still might be inside of your device.

What should I do then?

  • Do not put a water-damaged phone in the tumble dryer (even if it’s inside a sock or a pillow case)
  • Do not leave your wet phone on the radiator
  • Do not heat up your wet phone with a hair dryer
  • Do not put your wet phone in the freezer

My iPhone says it’s disabled. What should I do?

A locked iPhone requires a passcode or Touch ID to enter and access the device as a security precaution. After the iPhone passcode has been incorrectly entered five times in a row, the iPhone will automatically disable itself for 1 minute, giving the “iPhone is disabled” error message on screen. The obvious solution in this case is to wait for the minute (or several) to pass and then enter the correct passcode to unlock the iPhone and get around the disabled message. In the future, just enter the proper passcode in the first place and you’ll avoid this message and the lock out period.

You may find it interesting to know how many incorrect passcode entries are required to disable the iPhone for a particular amount of time and to get the accompanying message, that information is as follows:

  • 5 incorrect passcode entries in a row – iPhone is disabled, try again in 1 minute
  • 7 incorrect entries in a row – iPhone is disabled, try again in 5 minutes
  • 8 incorrect entries in a row – iPhone is disabled, try again in 15 minutes
  • 9 incorrect entries in a row – iPhone is disabled, try again in 60 minutes
  • 10 incorrect passcode entries – iPhone is disabled, connect to iTunes (or the iPhone wipes itself of all data if self-destruct mode is turned on)

Will I lose any data if I want to fix my device?

  • Most of the repairs such as screen replacement, charging port repair, speaker repair, sound issues, battery replacement does not require any access to your data. Therefore no data will be lost or changed.
  • However, data may be lost if your device has a corrupted software, faulty motherboard or when memory or hard drive is damaged.
  • If we will have to reinstall the software or make some changes to your data we will always ask first for your permission.
